Pre-procedure Instructions for Lip procedures

-Must not be pregnant or breastfeeding

-If you have any of the following health conditions you will need a note from your personal physician stating that it is safe for you to undergo a cosmetic tattoo procedure: epilepsy, diabetes, undergoing cancer treatment, hemophilia or other bleeding disorder, Auto-immune Disease (Lupus/Rheumatoid Arthritis)

-if you regularly take blood thinners such as fish oil vitamins or asprin/ibuprofen, please discontinue for the week leading up to your procedure (minimum 72 hours prior to). If you are takin blood thinners prescribed by a doctor. Please check with him/her before discontinuing any medication!

-If you take ibuprofen due to chronic pain you may switch to acetaminophen (Tylenol). -Please limit caffein intake prior to appointment (no more than one cup per day for the 3 days leading up to appointment).

-If you have ever had any history of cold sores/fever blisters on your lips it is highly advised that you obtain an antiviral medication from your doctor, if you don't already have one, to prevent a breakout after this procedure.  Contact your doctor and explain that you need a prescription to prevent an outbreak that is likely to happen due to cosmetic lip tattoo. (even if you haven't had an outbreak in 20 years, the virus is resting dormant in your body and the chances of getting one during the healing process is high due to the amount of stress on the lip tissue)

-keep lips moisturized for the entire week prior to appointment. Any lip balm will work but I advise buying Aquaphor because it is extra nourishing and you will need it anyway for your aftercare.

-Night before your appointment it is a good idea to do a mild sugar scrub to remove any dead skin. If you don’t have a sugar scrub you can make one simply by putting a dime size drop of coconut oil in your palm and add granulated or brown sugar with a spoon until it resembles a scrub. Then scrub your lips LIGHTLY for about 20-30 seconds. (any cooking oil will work if you don’t have coconut oil)
